Big Cedar Lodge

Hi guys!

This is where I've been for the last three days! Coincidentally, my brother had  his new wife had just left there from their honeymoon. Big Cedar is on Table Rock Lake in Missouri.

What a gorgeous place! We were in and out of meetings while we were there, but Will and I had a great time! To top it off, I got to play for his company's entire region and all of their families and we sent them all home with a CD!

A few stinkers got a hold of my guitar as we were packing up after the banquet! : )

RIP Michael Jackson!

I've just spent the last thirty minutes watching anything Michael Jackson that I could on youtube... talk about an icon for our generation, no matter how misunderstood or... messed up this man was, he was amazingly talented, original, and completely genius when it came to music. Will and I got calls almost simultaneously about his death when we were in the car on the way to Missouri this afternoon. His "Dangerous" album was the first CD my family ever bought for our first CD player. In some ways I think the Michael Jackson all of us knew and loved was already gone and living on through the music, now it's only more official. We did not know the person though, just what the media portrayed and the things that we heard and made fun of. I'll be thinking of his family. So much to do, so little time

There are not enough hours in the day! I don't think 1 or 2 more would be sufficient at the moment... but they would certainly help!  Next week we cut the ribbon in front of his office with the Chamber of Commerce (yes, the big ribbon and big scissors-- just like you see in movies and stuff!)  I've been gone about a quarter of the year this year I'd say and I'm glad for the chance to be here and help the hubs these last few weeks. But man, my back hurts! : )

I play at Big Cedar Lodge this weekend in Branson, MO and I can't wait. Will and I are busy getting his office furnished and decorated before we leave for the weekend! It's his company's annual regional meeting and they've asked me to perform and are buying two boxes of CD's! The best part is; Will will be with me on the road!

Stay cool out there people... it's been down right feverish lately!

Happy Father's Day!

The Wedding festivities are over. I remember my brother and his new wife saying hey just wanted a small church wedding... somehow that never happens. We were bringing in chairs from the reception into the sanctuary at the last minute and it was still standing room only. We are a truly blessed family!

After everything was over I sat watching my dad vacuum up the rose petals in the sanctuary thinking less than a year ago we quite nearly lost him to a motorcycle accident. Now, there he was cleaning up with the only thing reminding me of that horrible day-- just a slight limp. As one who had never been a patient at a hospital other than the day he was born, I'd say he handled the year quite well. He has my mother mainly to thank for that I think, but I have him to thank for being the man, father and role model that he is.

I love you, Dad!

Wedding Rehearsals!

I wouldn't say we were the most helpful yesterday... So many distractions and perfect opportunities for obstacle courses!         : )

Will was faster, he had more modern equipment. All I can say is, don't get into an arm wrestling match with someone that uses a wheel chair. They will crush you. Those things are hard!

 

I'm singing the Isreal Kamakawiwo version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" tonight for John and Jerri's first Dance at the reception and Mathew West's "When I Say I Do" during the ceremony.

Here's the soon-to-be- new family! 

Everyone is in town at my parent's house. This is so much fun!

Full Circle Bookstore

Hi guys! Just got finished cleaning up... we had 17 folks over for dinner tonight! I love knowing the exact number-- fill my house with people and I'm a happy lady! : ) Will's last day at his old office is next week and we had been wanting to have everyone he's been working with the last year and a half over before he left. So much fun, but now I'm wiped out! I've still got to learn a song tonight for my brothers wedding rehearsal tomorrow... AHHH. I'm doing two songs for the wedding and I've only had a chance to learn one of them. It won't be too hard though because I'm using a music stand. Thank the Lord for music stands!

I guess the mp3 of John and I singing "The Prayer" got around his office today and everyone now knows what a knock out tenor he is. Cat's out of the bag brother! Ha! Did I mention he's now singing in a band as well!? Thinkin' maybe we should hit the road together.

I'm really excited about a gig I booked today at the Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City. This is a really neat place that has live music on the weekends. They are featuring me on Saturday, August 15th at 7pm!

Well, I'm headed to Perry, OKlahoma tomorrow for wedding festivities! Wahoo! I'll get some great pics to upload for you all! Have a great Friday my friends!

New Tenor in Town!

Me and my older brother, John recorded "The Prayer" at a buddy's home studio tonight. I swear, John had never sung publicly until last month ( and the times he didn't know we were listening from the other side of the bathroom door when we were kids ) you wouldn't believe what a voice he has. Seriously, Adrea Bocelli-- watch out! I can't wait for people to hear him at the ceremony on Saturday! The song will play right after or before the vows!

Will and I have been working hard on getting his new office ready to open next week. Construction finished today--finally-- and now for the decorating... eesh. I feel like we bought another house. It's shaping up well though!  

The county fair season is starting up! Word has sufficiently spread about my music so that folks are actually calling me to play in stead of the other way around! Beautiful!

"Houses in the Field" w/ John Gorka!

Check this out my friends! We opened for John at Crossroads Coffee House in Winnsboro, TX last month and he was kind enough to sing with me and Drew on his song "Houses in the Field" that we covered on my first record, Hit the Ground Running.

Thanks so much Conrad Wolfman for the video! I was ecstatic when I saw it. John Gorka is a real class act! If you haven't heard his music or his voice or seen him live for that matter, you are missing out!

Relay for Life

 

I had a revolving audience on Friday night in Perry, Oklahoma. Friends and family of cancer survivors, real survivors, and supporters on teams for a very good cause went around the high school track at the football stadium raising money for a cure for Cancer. My parents were in the stands and I knew a lot of the people walking-- it was great to see folks every few minutes as they came around the track... I was in the middle.

My older brother is getting married this Saturday! It's going to be a fun week! Hope you had a great weekend!
