KNID Today's Best Country Radio

It's newsletter day! Yeah! When the newsletter goes out I always get a ton of emails from folks. It's great fun.

The radio station I grew up listening to in West Oklahoma, KNID now has our first single! "Thinkin' Bout You" can officially be requested at  Today's Best Country You can just call 1-800-457-6647  Mindi helped me put a banner on myspace.com/katiemariahmusic it has a few radio stations we've managed to get through to. They will all definitely play the single when you call and request it. We are working hard getting it to a bunch more stations soon!

I had to run a few errands today and of course I chose the exact time a mysterious storm came through. Oklahoma is crazy, wall clouds are crazier. I hit hail on the way home and the itty-bitty chip in my windshield is now a huge crack from end to end. Eeesh. Hey, it could be worse.

I head to Dallas tomorrow for a bunch of shows! Hope to see some of you there!

Italian Restaurant

My title tonight is not my favorite Billy Joel tune but I've got the Italian food bug BIG time. Will and I are trying to cut back on eating out, but this week we managed to get lucky and went to two different Italian places in Oklahoma City. Will's dad, Brad took us to the Trattoria Il Centro in downtown Oklahoma City-- it was wonderful! We then went with a ton of great friends to The Nomad last night. There's nothing like a good pizza and Caesar salad. This place had both! There are rumors it was a big mob hang out in the 50's... even cooler!

This was our group last night. So much fun!

Jay and Kyra made us dinner tonight and we watched some good basketball and golf. Did anybody see Tiger's last putt for the win? It's fun to watch someone that good at something, no matter what it is.

Jay gave me some great music for the road this week. He's always got a bunch of great players and writers I haven't heard of yet.

I'm feeling very blessed right now to have the friends around me that I do!

One last time...

Okay winter... this is the last time. I mean it.

Everything was coming up... tulips, daffodils, the red buds were blooming then-- SHIZAM-- big snow storm. This was Saturday morning. I had to run to the grocery store to buy stuff for a big breakfast. The best thing on snow days! Of course, it almost all melted during the day and got up to sixty degrees. It was kind of nice to have one last big winter storm, now I'm really ready for Easter! I got lucky that this wasn't a travel weekend for me and I got to stay off the roads. Thankfully, everything picks up this week and hopefully, the winter storms are done for good.

I can hear Will downstairs starting to watch Madigascar Two and I'm missing it! "I like to move it move it!"

The Amsterdam in Austin, TX

Just got home from an Oklahoma State alumni meeting... we drank beers commiserating in our loss to Pitt last weekend. Ah well, drinking beers commiserating with Oklahoma State fans is still a ton of fun!

This is my good friend, Mrs. Macey Panach and my sister, Megan. Boys were hitting on Megan as she was leaving... must call and find out details. : )

My friend, Dennis Welch just helped me get booked in Austin on May 9th. Everything was confirmed today. I was kind of bummed to miss South by Southwest this year, so this will make up for it. We're playing at the Amsterdam!

I feel like I sat all day today. Drove to Dallas and back with a sit-down rehearsal in between. The rear is quite numb, hence the short blog. I've now missed LOST more times than I've seen it this season. I hope they come out with the DVD quickly. Will and I got our taxes done and are having our wood floors refinished. The fumes in the house are drastically higher than normal... it's making Gus sneeze uncontrollably...

Mama Sweet

Hi guys, I'm listening to Mama Sweet's "Sara" at the moment and it is making me very happy.

Still on a personal high about Roger Clyne coming to play in El Reno on May 2nd... big smile.

What's up with everyone getting sick huh? I always thought that flu season was in the early winter-- but I know a ton of people who are miserable at the moment. The big stinky... what I call it. I woke up with a sore throat yesterday... I've been drinking a ton of orange juice and had an orange today to steer it off. Now I have a stomachache. I'm hoping it was all the orange juice.

I've got rehearsals tomorrow with the boys! Man, I can't wait to get this show on the road already!

I'm opening for Roger Clyne!

I went to a few places in Oklahoma City today to drop off some CD's. I'm going to get some shows booked in the OKC metro area for all you folks that keep asking me when we are playing in Oklahoma. A very nice guy named Jose at the 51st Speakeasy told me about this cool Oklahoma tv program that is getting started in Oklahoma. It focuses on local artists of all kinds. I'm opening for Roger Clyne! That's right. May 2, in El Reno, Oklahoma Roger Clyne is coming to play and I'm booked just before him!

Many of you know I am a huge fan and have been in love with him (almost as much as my husband!) and his music for a very long time. Ah! This is going to be very cool.

Here's a bit o' Roger for ya! I'm so freaking excited!

Grapevine Opry

Yeesh! It's late, or early, which ever... I've been up too long. Now I'm on a caffeine high though, so I figure I can let you all know what I've been up to for the last couple days in Dallas.

Went to the arboretum with the cousins on Friday before rehearsals. Here's some pics.

Tonight I was back in Grapevine, TX at the Grapevine Opry. It was so fun! We were there last summer with a camera crew for Grapefest, their annual festival. The opry was packed and the audience was awesome! I sold a bunch of CD's at intermission. Yeah baby! The other acts were great and best of all, tonight was Marty Robbins night!! Many of you know I grew up loving and singing his songs. They had some great performers who did all his classics in the second half of the show.

I opted to drive home to Oklahoma to get some time with Will tomorrow, today... whatever.
Oklahoma State plays at 1pm tomorrow! Can't miss it. Thanks to everyone reading this blog who were at the show tonight and have taken the time to check out what we've got going on! Thank you to my Aunt Brenda, Nana, Randy and Stacy for coming from East Dallas just to see the show. You are the BEST!

John O'reilly amd Imeem

I have three new songs I'm working on! At any given moment one of them is stuck in my head. A good sign!  There's a lot of other material to be rehearsing right now though, and there never seems like enough time to work on new stuff!  It's a good problem to have I suppose!

I'm back at my Nana's in Rowlett, TX getting ready to rehearse and then head down to the arboretum. My cousins are having a picnic and I said I would join them... Perhaps I shall bring my guitar?

I have been told that Thursdays at the arboretum is a great live music night in the spring and summer. I'm planning on taking a CD with me and seeing if I can make a contact over there to book a show!

I'm listening to Charlie Robinson's "John O'reilly" and it's making me very happy! Great for the week of St. Patrick's Day! It's a pick me up, that's for sure!
