The first day of the video shoot is tomorrow. I'm freaking excited! I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm learning every day the different facets of Google. I already use gmail and love it, but there's this cool feature called Google Analytics we've been using to track the progress each of my websites is making in regards to the demographics of how many people in what places are checking out the sites. We are doing great in Oklahoma and Texas fittingly, but there are a few states that, since we've been using the site, haven't been to www.katiemariah.com or www.myspace.com/katiemariahmusic. I want to try something cool with those of you amazing people that read this blog. If you have any friends/relatives/acquaintances, (potential or former boy or girlfriends that you need an excuse to talk to them about) in any of these states, could you send them a check out katiemariah.com message for me?

Video shoot!

I just caught the last half of tonight's season of Lost! I missed the last couple of episodes and now I am forever as the show suggests... guess I'll just have to rent the DVD set like last year.

Had a great rehearsal with the band today-- going over an acoustic set. Man, it sounds cool. I can't wait for these shows we have coming up! Drew and I sat down afterward to write...had a song in less than an hour. This is so fun!

I'll stay in Dallas the rest of the week to shoot the video for "Thinkin' Bout You." Lots to be done! I get the official schedule tomorrow.

It was a tough decision...

Hi!

There was something eerie about the day when I walked outside... I couldn't quite figure it out for the first few minutes. It felt so good, I wasn't sneezing uncontrollably and my eyes weren't watering. I figured it out after a few moments-- the wind was NOT blowing! Incredible. Thank you God! I've started a song about it... it's called "Blame it on the Wind." I've been saving that title for a long time, and in my wonderment of the amazing lack of 50-mile-per-hour gusts.

Now for the very hard part about this blog... I must answer a very serious and important question. Who is my favorite Disney character? This answer was not immediate, and to be honest it was sort of a tie. It's kind of like asking a person what their favorite movie or song is... at least for me, there is never a clear-cut winner. But, I decided ties were boring. So, I've decided to let you guys know with this wonderful clip who beat out all the contenders!

Actually, it's not Robin Hood, though I do think he's dreamy. It's Clucky... what a hen! : )

The Best question!

Yo compadres! Ooh, I quite like that. I needed a fresh greeting... "hey guys" was getting old : )

I love getting all my facebook and myspace messages about how you've bought the album! Keep letting me know which song is your favorite and keep singing along! You rock! You rock even harder if you tell a friend about the music for me! We've got a long road ahead with this album, but for every person you tell, the road gets shorter and shorter!

Just got back from a big shopping extravaganza. We shoot the first video for the album this weekend! The theme will freak you out. Seriously. It's for "Thinkin' Bout You" and it's going to rock! (I'll let you in on the secret of who I play in the video in a few days.) For the scenes, I needed a bunch of "colorful" attire. I tried to pick out some stuff from my closet for the script's shot sheet, and I've got to be honest with you, my garb lacked some serious luster. I've just never been that big of a shopper-- me and dressing rooms do not get along-- After tonight, I told myself I would start to carry static cling sheets in my purse when shopping.

I actually really do appreciate nice clothes though, just never had the money to buy them and it never really bothered me that much I guess. This year, now that I've started paying more attention to myself as a performer that should look more put together (i.e. buying clothes that are actually in style and getting hair cuts) people keep asking me if I've lost weight and stuff... nope, just started spending money is all-- funny how that works. ; )

And now for the last question from the Sabine Creek CD release concert. It is also my favorite: Who is your favorite Disney Character?

This is by far the most difficult question as well. I'm going to ponder this, hopefully dream about it, and let you know tomorrow.

Off to the races...

Well,

today was an interesting day. We went to Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, OK and watched my Cowboys beat Baylor.

After that, we drove back to Enid, OK to go to the annual church Mardi gra Party. Our table's theme this year was "off to the races."

 

Yes, this is Will and I... yes, we went as the horses. : )

It was a great party, now Lint begins. Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Never Give Up

Hello there,

We've posted the 5th song to our websites now. "Never Give Up" is up and playing at www.katiemariah.com and www.myspace.com/katiemariahmusic if you have not heard it, it's one of my favorites that I've written.

The shoot I went on yesterday with Travis of Frozen Fire Films was so interesting! We interviewed volunteer first responders that are part of the organization ESAR-VHP(pronounced ee-sar-vip). We were interviewing outside all day at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial site (beautiful by the way). We talked to so many wonderful people, including those who first responded to the bombing all those years ago. The organization was fascinating to learn about and something I would be proud to be a part of. You all might too. Instead of just watching the aftermath of a disaster on television, these folks actually go help if they can. We were filming for their new website, which will be up and running soon. Here's one of the last questions from the cd release concert: Who has been your biggest influence in regards to music?

Wow, big question and no single answer. I would have to say number one, my dad. It's not that he was a musician or anything (although he did pick around on the guitar) but it was he and my mom's 60's and 70's music that they played around the house that influenced me the most. The stereo was always on... I still love to clean the house with the music blasting like I did growing up. We still listen to old vinyl records when I'm home. I remember as a kid not caring about the music all my friends were listening to, but loving stuff like James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg and even Marty Robbins and Frankie Laine. I fell in love with blue grass music because of Dad when I was young too. He bought a Ricky Skaggs album and we all (me and my two brothers and sister) learned every word to "Country Boy." I loved any music that told a story and gravitated towards folk and country at a young age because I could make out the lyrics and sing along. Later on, I discovered the Dixie Chicks, Oklahoma and Texas red-dirt music and Patty Griffin. Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers are the band that pretty much summed up college for me, and now the list keeps growing and growing. There's so much music out there to explore... it's kind of amazing. I'll have a new favorite soon and let you know about him/her/them.

Grip work...

Hello!

Had a busy day in Dallas today. Worked with Drew and Toby on our acoustic shows we have coming up. Love the songs when they are so laid back like that... you'll love them too I hope.

I'm assisting the Director of FFF in downtown OKC while he shoots for a memorial piece on the OKC bombing that happened when I was a little girl. I'll be a grip all day! : ) I'm really looking forward to it actually!

Wreckless Eric

Why hello there,

Anyone seen the movie Stranger than Fiction with Will Farrell and Emma Thompson? Tonight, I was looking for a cool cover song for the band. The last few weeks I've been getting this song Will Farrell sings in a scene in the movie stuck in my head. It's called "Whole Wild World" by Wreckless Eric -- and it was totally perfect for the scene. Well, the song was used in the movie, and then I was able to get on youtube and search for the clip to remember the title of the song... then to Imeem.com to find the artist in less than five minutes. All of this made me realize once again that-- It is a great time for music! Less than ten years ago I would have had a hard time finding that tune and artist-- probably having to seek out the movie soundtrack to find the artist. And now look, those of you that read this... you will now know too!

I'm getting such great feed back from the folks that have heard the CD! Thank you guys so much for all the comments you've posted on CD Baby!! I know they sold out quickly, but they should be fully restocked now and ready to go.

I always knew... at least as long as I can remember. There was nothing else, not for me.
